The Americans The Colonial Experience
Author: Daniel J. Boorstin
"Boorstin's point of view is provocative and controversial. But no one can deny that The Americans is a major work, an original contribution in a field which in the last 60 years has abounded in great research and scholarship, a book equally stimulating for the historian and for the general reader." This is a great look at the colonial period in British North America. It was written in the late 1950's. Those of us who lived through those times and have witnessed the changes in the United States in the ensuing 50 years can gather insight into the maturity of the country. I think this book is a must read for anyone truly interested in American history.
