Whether it's riding her horse to spread news about the war to the neighbors, or helping a newfound friend, or protecting her house from a dangerous midnight visitor, Annie bravely does her part. Still, she misses her father.
But the constant adventures keep her busy. After nearly drowning while trying to ride a horse across a river, Annie returns home and ends up taking part in yet another surprise--the birth of Liberty."
