So I am still new at this BOB thing. I really wish people wouldn't request quite so many books at once. Someone has asked for 19 books. I looked at their shelf and am only mildly interested in 2 books. So do I PM them and tell them the 2 I am interested in and ask them to narrow it down to 2 books? Or do I delete books from what they requested except for 2 I am willing to send? I might just decline it altogether. I feel bad because I already cancelled a request for 11 books because they had nothing I wanted. I had read half their small shelf already. I accepted a request for 1 and had an offer for a 2 book exchange accepted. So my main question is when you can't find that many books on someone's shelf: do you just PM them and let them remove books or what? |

I usually look and see if they have anything I REALLY want to have. I send the offer back to them and PM them to see if they want to pair down their request. Since you are getting bombarded I would go ahead and delete the books they want that are already requested by swaps you have accepted. Just tell them you did it. I seems like the first few days of joining BOB are crazy. Your name shows up on the BOB page as being new and everyone hits you to see what you have that they want. Don't feel bad about saying no. Feel free to offer me a bob when you are ready. |

I asked the same question when I started BoB and the TG told me to let them remove the books themselves unless there are certain ones you are not willing to box. Do not feel guilty about turning down boxes, send a polite PM saying you cannot find anything else right now; you are getting so many requests you need to turn some down; your tastes are so similar you've read most of theirs already, etc, etc., just be polite. Everyone gets turned down and turns down boxes, it happens all the time. Not everyone's reading preference mess and some are too much alike. |
