Yup - that's why my sis and I bought one for my mom last spring....she was having hand surgery and we figured it would be easier to hold than a book.   I have her on my account, so she has access to all my books.

Did you have surgery?   Happy healing!

Good luck with healing from the surgery!

You can also prop an ereader up on a pillow and read while lying on your side - my fave.

Oh yeah, thats awesome! I can see where having a nook would be helpful there!

It is also helpful when you have a cat in your arms!

My cat curls up with me in the evenings and it is real hard to hold a book, hold her and turn the pages at the same time. I have dropped my book and lost my place so many times, I can't even count!

But holding a nook is sooo much easier and by just flicking my thump I can turn the page without disturbing the kitty!

Also since my boyfriend won't touch my Kindle, he can't take my bookmark out and switch it around like he does with my paper books. It took me weeks before I caught on to his trick.I kept thinking I had dropped the book and the marker fell out!

Oh I agree with Wendy. We can't be disturbing the cat on us. My cat likes to rub against my Kindle as I'm reading, then she settles down to nap.

I've got a little metal book/paper stand that I used to use for when I'm inputting genealogy stuff, but mostly it's hidden in a corner.  I use it every day when I eat lunch and dinner.  My Nook fits right in it.  I can read without holding.

I have an ancient computer which is very slow, so if I'm doing something on a website that takes a really long time to load pages, I keep my Sony Reader next to me and read the downloaded news while waiting.  I used to try to keep a book on my desk for that purpose, but it was aggravating to keep opening and closing it, and remembering my place.  Very handy!
