I did some searching, but couldn't find where this one has been discussed before... I have a hardback book that apparently at one time had the dust jacket taped to the inside of the cover of the book. I can see where the tape was (it's brown), but not sticky. I have it on my bookshelf, but now am having second thoughts. Is this postable, or does that count as a stain? Thanks in advance for the answers! |

I think this is a judgement call. I wouldn't consider it a stain, but you never know what the person you send it to would think. |

Well, if it was still taped, it would be postable. IMO. Lots of libraries do that (tape the covers to the books, insde the mylar covers), and ex-library books are postable. I think it is postable. But it is true, not specifically addressed in the rules. |

My first month here I had someone RWAP me for the residue left from a price tag. Understandable -- it just looked like something icky to her. I agree that if the tape is still there, it's borderline okay, but I would PM the person before mailing. |

Thanks for the replies. It's a 20 year old book, which means it was back before they had invented archival quality tape. Since there's only a few other copies, I'll leave it posted & pm before hand. Thanks much! |

I tape the dust jacket to every single hardcover I buy. Drives me batty when I'm reading a book and the dust jacket keeps slipping off. And before someone says something, no I don't like to read them without the dust jacket either. haha
