If someone requested a book from you that was in excellent condition but was missing the DJ and they had this RC

Due to extreme allergies we can not accept books that are from a smoking home or that are musty or moldy smelling. Thanks for your consideration in this matter. Also would like in very good condition, I appreciate it.
Would you send the book??  It is a highly wished for book,  My daughter was not paying attention and printed the label, I always use DC. so if I cancel I will only lose the small amout that cost.

Well, I would accept it. They say nothing about dust jackets, and if you're confident that it's "excellent" condition then I think you're okay. You just have to decide for yourself.

Personally, I don't think that books without dustjackets are in "very good" condition.

On the other hand, the book requestor obviously knows how to make a RC to ask for what she wants. And she does not mention dustjackets. I think we could infer that if she did want them, she would mention them.

Since you already printed the DC, if it were me, I would just PM and ask.

I don't care about dust jackets so to me a hardcover book without one but in good condition would meet that RC.  On the other hand, I would have turned down that RC because "good condition" it too subjective-as witnessed by Sara P and I having different opinions about  the condition of your hardcover book.

I see no reason to not send your book.  There is nothing about dust covers in her RC.

Also would like in very good condition  - this wording irks me.  I'd like a million dollars to but doubt if I'd get it.  It they want GOOD condition they should make it a condition - like to have is not a condition IMO.

Ok I sent her a pm if I don't hear back from her by early morning the book will be mailed. This is the dang book I got sent to me from my wish list in hardcover instead of paperback.  I think the book has a curse on it LOL

Thanks for all your help

The RC is so subjective! You definitely did the right thing by PMing her -- some people would think that "very good condition" would automatically mean that the dust jacket was present while obviously others feel that since she doesn't mention the dust jacket that her RC doesn't include it. Personally, that is an RC I would decline because it is so open to different interpretations and unless you are a mind reader (or PMing the member like you did), there is no way to really know what she is asking for.

"...Also would like in very good condition..." Yeah, that part seems rather subjective to me also.

Hope you find a happy new home for that book soon Bertie.

I sent a pm and still have not heard from the requester. So  I just sent this pm

I am going to cancel your request for the book above. I am not sure about you RC, and I don't want you to get a book you are not happy with.

What I think I did stupid was re list the book right away.  Will the book once again go to her????

Maybe, but this time just decline the RC and your book will get picked up by the next person requesting it.

If it's WL then it will go to her again then you can just decline the RCs.  If it isn't WL then you'll have to repost it and go to the end of hte FIFO line. Her request will be passed on to the next person who had the book posted.

That is EXACTLY the reason I won't PM about anyone's RC.  If it's simple and easy to understand, I'll send the book.  If not, I'll send it to the next person.  I am not going to wait around wondering if I'll get an answer to my PM or not.

Cozette,

As they say live and learn LOL.  I will no doubt think twice about RC's  Now I have to wait 48 more hours before I can say no to her RC.  This has been the book from HE&&. It was a wish list book that I wanted in paperback was sent to me in hardcover.
