Ok, so today's weird thing happened when I added 4 books I got used at the library bookstore. ( good deal, 3 of them are WL!) I noticed a bunch of the books on my TBR have 'faded' red Ws instead of the bold red W. Each one I clicked on actually shows that there are copies available. So now I'm wondering........were they WL when I added them and just now the WL has been depleted and copies added? But one of them shows 38 copies available. Seems unlikely that so many copies have been posted to the system since the last time I looked at my TBR list. And if so, why isn't the red W just totally removed? |

Could you post a list of some of the titles that have the W? |

Hover over the faded red Ws and you'll see what they mean: "This book is on another member's WL but the member does not currently have the balances to auto request it. The book will be offered to the member if s/he is not on vacation." |

The member probably added the book to her wishlist a while ago, when there were no copies posted. Now she has her account on Vacation Hold. If she were to remove the Vacation Hold, her account would automatically request the book, even though it's actually no longer a Wish List book. |

Thanks, Jo, for the explanation. Thought I tried to hover but got nothing in response. Is this a new function? since I've never seen it before, I think it must be as it doesn't seem realistic that I'd suddenly have a dozen or more of them. Patty-- technically they are still WL as they are on my TBR, not my posted books. |

From another post, seems like this occurs for auto request wish list when the member has either not credits and or swap fees to auto. Why any member without credit/swap gets a place in line when others are waiting is a whole other question. |

Because it takes a matter of minutes to get a credit and add money to their account. The poster waits no longer than they would for a 48hr hold member.
These are all on books that do not have an active Wish List on my TBR. They are either 0 wisher/0 copies available or there are copies available in the system. The faded W must have been added to indicate that there is someone with it on their WL, but they cannot request at this time. Since they do not have any other wishers, then a poster wouldn't expect an instant request. The W is faded to let the poster know that they shouldn't expect a request right away, but its possible if that wisher should come do what they need to do to complete that wish.

From the newsletter that was sent last week: If the W is a PALE red, that indicates that the wish is not totally active -- that the wishing member has her account on hold (and the wish is not set to auto-request), OR she has her account on hold and the wish IS set to auto-request, but she hasn't the credits/funds to request it. When the Vacation Hold (or the individual Wish List Hold) is removed or she gets credit/Swap Fees to request the book the Wish will become active and your book will be auto-requested or offered to her. |

I noticed this a couple of weeks ago also and since I have my Bookshelf, Books on Hold, sorted by Wish list, I see the ones with faded W's in the list. I chalked it up as just a "good to know" item because a couple of mine have a lot of copies in the system also which I found out before I changed from a Standard to a Limited member on March 7th. |
