I assume you're referring to the open source word processing, spreadsheet, database, etc. program, right? It's all I use both at home and at work, and I love and highly recommend it! |

I love open office. My husband uses it on his PC, and I use the Mac version, Neooffice. Just make sure that if you send something to someone that you save it as a Word file, otherwise mass confusion ensues. My professor did not find it amusing that I sent him 3 different files in the wrong format ... |

I recently discovered it on my computer at work. It has no excel and I was trying to make a spreadsheet and all I could see on my computer was wordpad which stinks. Open office is very similar, easy to use and has ability to do regular documents and spreadsheets. I do wonder if you send it to someone else if they will be able to open it if they do not have open office? |

OpenOffice documents can be saved as Microsoft Office documents, so people you send files to don't have to have OpenOffice. My problem with it was how much space it takes up. It slowed my computer down really badly and I had to remove it, and the machine still didn't work right until I wiped the hard drive. |

I love Open Office. One of my archaeology professors recommended it, and that is all I have used since. I have never had any problems with it at all, and I have it installed on three computers at home. |
