I'm looking for the book by Nancy Thayer, "Moon Shell Beach." I read the the few chapters they had in Redbook magazine and am dying to read it! It does not come up on the list of book that are posted here, but sometimes I have problems with finding a book I want on there. Just wondering if anyone has it on their bookshelf?

Tina, try doing an Advanced Search for this book and change the default from Posted Books to All Books. If it is not posted you can add it to your wishlist from there. Also you may want to post this in the Book Bazaar where it will be seen by way more people.

Tina,

I don't have the book, but it is listed in the system as a wishlist book.  Here's the link: http://www.paperbackswap.com/book/details/9780739497265-Moon+Shell+Beach

Tina, If you are having problems finding books when you do a search here, notice whether or not the search option has "posted books only."  You can toggle that to "all books" and you will be able to find posted and wishlisted books.

And, if you don't find the book at all you can go to Amazon.com and find it there and find the ISBN for it.  Then, just put the ISBN into the search box and, voila, the book appears in the system.  You can instantly add it to your WL and be #1!

Sarah, I tried it for all the books I have been looking for and found the ISB # then searched by that. Not one of them came up which means they aren't in our system. Did you mean there is something else I should do or did you just mean that maybe it wasn't bringing it up by the title or author for some reason and this might work?

Elain are you sure you aren't just searching for posted books?  To the left of the screen, after you do a search there'll be an advanced search area-make sure it says All Books or Wish Listed books. It's better to use all books because some aren't WL but they aren't currently posted either.

If the books you are looking for haven't been published yet then that could be why as well. I'm not sure how to get an up and coming book into the system.  Usually when I search them here they already have a WL line.

Mary, thanks for asking but yes I know how to use the search in the correct way. These are books that are not in the system but I thought maybe Sarah knew something about searching that I didn't know and I'm always up for trying anything. I have them on my saved searches in case PBS ever puts them in the system. Most are not new, just not in the system. I wish I knew how to get books like that in the system, I have 12 on my saved searches and have only had a couple that have ever been entered into the system. It would be nice if someone looked at all the saved searches once in awhile and put them into the system. As a matter of fact I think I will send that in as a suggestion.

When you put in the ISBN, does it give the option to enter all the information for the book? What Sarah was referenceing is that usually, when an ISBN that the system doesn't have is entered, the system will pull in the information from its outside sources. Once in a while it fails to find any info on the ISBN so it cannot do that. Usually it will then give you the opportunity to enter all of the info about the book. If you can find the information on another site, enter it here. The system allows you to enter it for the ISBN rather than setting it up as a non-ISBN book.
