I read the book first, and decided I really wanted to see the movie...actually bought it cause it was on sale, and I figure I liked the book, I'm sure I'll like the movie....BIG disappointment!

Not saying that the movie was horrible...but it didn't even follow the same story line as the book!  I was so waiting for some parts that didn't even happen, and I was angry!  However, there were some parts in the movie that I thought should have been in the book!

Any thoughts?  Or was I the only one that thought that this mattered! lol

Usually I like the book better but in this case, I liked the movie better. I thought it was really well cast - I think that was a lot of it for me.

I'm the same way Stacy, won't watch a movie until I finish the book...My son got HP Order of the Phoneix for Christmas...I let him watch it, even though we aren't done with the book yet, but I refused to watch it!  I also made my mom hurry up and read PS I love You so that we could go see that in the theaters!

The book and the movie were like two different stories..  I liked them both, though.  I thought Anne Hathaway did a great job in the movie but did not remind me of the woman in the book.

I wasn't that bothered and/or surprised by the differences between the book and the movie.  If they had followed the book to the letter, the movie would have had to be what? 6 hours long??   LOL

The one thing that I have been sure to tell people who have raved about Meryl Streep's portrayal of Miranda, IMO, is that the character was waaaaay meaner/nastier in the book than in the movie.

The book was great and one I bought (New) in HB.  The movie was nice... Anne Hathaway is lovely, Meryl is Meryl (fab!) but I think I'm one of the view who thought Emily wasn't the "real" Emily.  That being said, they changed the book's ending.  I hate when movies of books are changed! :(

Usually like book way better, but I listened to the book on CD first and was not that thrilled with it. Then one of my sleepless nights the movie was on the movie channel and I really liked the movie.  It was not the same as the book, but this time I liked the movie better then the book. I totally agree with Susan W. on the casting...they made the movie.
