Do we have any other MOPS members here? My group is relatively new and we are looking for ways to get more involved with the community and "recruit" new members and also more Moppets workers. We are also looking for ideas for discussion topics.

I am a moppets worker.   I am glad to watch these kids so the moms can get a break.

I'm in MOPS, but I only was in for a couple months last year, and we haven't started the new semester here, so I really don't know a whole lot about it.

I worked with a MOPS group for a year.  The leader and i went on our local tv station and did a short Q & A with a reporter, it was like a community hour.  It was fun and brought a little bit of response.  For Moppets workers we recruited a lot of retired people from our church, which is where the group was held.

For discussion we had a female police officer come and talk about child safety, we had id kits that we handed out and even did fingerprints of the children.  The parents took those home, along with clipped hair samples. I still have ours filed in our safe.

If I think of anything else, I'll edit; it's been a few years since we've been involved.

Gee Paula that's a good idea especially since the majority of our moms are home schoolers so the kids don't get the child IDs they do in our local school every year. I should talk to our local education officer about doing something like that.

I love MOPS. I was on the Steering Committee for 4 years. And went to the MOPS convention two year in a row. I have lots of ideas for discussion topics. PM me and I would be happy to share. MOPS is a great suppurt network for moms. I met some of my closest friends through MOPS.

I was in MOPS for a lot of years while my kids were little (youngest is now 11, so it's been quite awhile since I was involved)... what  a great way to get out of the house and be around other Moms!!  I loved it!!
