I have Glory and the Lightning by Taylor Caldwell on my shelf.  It's based on the life of Aspasia-"the beautiful and intelligent courtesan who eventually became the companion of Pericles, ruler of Athens".  (contains explicit sexual content)

Have you read this book Lisa? I have been wondering for a while if I should get this book, but since the author tends to write books with "Christian messages/themes" I have been wary of ordering it.

Nope, I haven't read it other than flipping through and finding the aforementioned sexual content.  I actually think of her as a Christian writer, too, which is why I picked up several of her novels at a book sale.  This one is not specifically about a Christian historical figure, so maybe there's not so much of the "Christian messages/themes".  No guarantees, though, since I haven't read it.

Hope that helps!
