I'm looking through my books and I see I still have several of the Morganville Vamps series to read.  I read the first two or three (I can't remember) on vacation last year and I got so mad at the main character!  She's a twit!  As I left it, she signed an agreement with the strong female vamp without consulting her friends, and the house ghost just became a vampire.  WTF man??  I had no desire to pick up the next one because I was mad at the characters.  Is it all going this way or does it get better??

I gave up around the same point you did.  Although I can't really put my finger on why.  I just couldn't get into them I guess, but I've heard from lots of people that they loved this series.  The series sounded like something I would love, but just wasn't feeling them.

I have read all of them, and yes I get frustrated with all of the characters sometimes, and the cliffhanger endings, but I still like it.  It is kinda like in a scary movie where the main character goes down the stairs and you yell at them to not go there.

The main character is suppose to be 15.  And I must say, at 15 I was rather stupid about long term consequences of my actions.  I'm much more tolerant of TSTL when the character is so young.

I got halfway through the first book and gave up. I just couldn't feel much sympathy for the main character who comes off as a stupid twit with as much common sense as a tic tac.

I like them.  The vamps are not just good or evil.  The town folk are not just innocent and pure.  I like all the messed up grey areas.

But the books really have cliff enders.  I always make sure to keep the one before to review the end before starting the next one.

They are YA.  Older YA, but still YA.  Which fits the fact that the 15 year old main character is too book smart and too real life naive.

I loved the first three (or four??) but I gave up after that.  I don't know why exactly...I went from "Can't put it down! Can't wait to read the next!" to "Meh". lol
