I'm wondering if anyone might be able to help me.  I know it's a long shot, but a few years ago I started reading this series that a friend of mine let me borrow.  I never finished that series and have since lost contact with that friend.  I also forgot who the author was and what any of the books were called.  I'm hoping someone may read this and be able to give me any information on who wrote the books, what the series was called, etc.  Anything would be much appreciated.

The books were basically about a group of people, mainly young orphaned girls, who were experimented on as young children by some doctor.  He more or less gave them special abilities by changing things in their bodies.  One of the girls was really sensitive to people's thoughts and emotions and couldn't be around people for long period's of time as she would feel what they felt intensified, making her sick.  Another girl, when she was angered, would blow things up with her mind, etc.

The doctor in the series also did experiments on some military.  Giving them heightened abilities, like being able to slow down their heart rate, making themselves invisible, etc.

The first book was about one of the girls, who the doctor later adopted, finding out about what her father had done, as she didn't remember any of the bad stuff he had put her and the other orphaned girls through.  And later on, her trying to find these girls who were later put into institutions, foster care, ran away, what-not.  The girl found out about what her father had done because of records he kept, which included journals and video tapes of the kinds of tests he put the young girls through.

I know it's not much to go on, but I really appreaciate what anyone might be able to tell me.  Thanks!

That would be Christine Feehan   and her GhostWalkers series, there are 7 of them out now. They were all good!

Thanks so much! I only read three of them and I really loved the ones that I had read.  I really appreciate you helping me.  I can't wait to start reading them again. :-)
