I overheard someone talking about a series of books that are about a group of men from different professional who are friends and who meet once a month to have dinner together and discuss unsolved crimes and select one of these unsolved crimes that these men then attempt to solve themselves.  It sounded really interesting but I can't remember the name of the series.  Does anyone have any idea what these are???  Thank You.

It sounds like it might be David Baldacci's Camel Club series.

Aw crap - another author to try. The plot sounds very intriguing.

Okay Laura --- Next time you are eavesdropping just join in the conversation so we will all know what books we need to read (hee hee).  It could be "The Camel Club" they are men, they do come from different jobs (cemetary groundskeeper, retired military, librarian, techie person) but these things don't really strike me as "professions". per se.  Nor do they seem to officially get together for dinner --- of course my memory is very sketchy after about 30 minutes and it has been years since I read the first book in the series.  I also do not have any other suggestions for you, but I do highly recommend "The Camel Club" and the 3 or 4 follow-up books in this series by David Baldacci.

Geri -- As usual, you are right on top of things --- so clever are you!!!

I have this book, haven't read it yet, of course (so many books, so little time!).  The first inside page says the club consists of four eccentric members.  Led by a mysterious man known as "Oliver Stone".  You're right, it does sound good, but not sure it's the one you're asking about.

An older series by  author Isaac Asimov was the Black Widowers.  They met once a month and discussed a problem/mystery to solve.
