I was astonished this morning when I looked at my positions on my wishlist to see that overnight I moved up 5 to 15 spots on many of my wishlisted books. I am assuming that kids are out of school and a lot of members have put their accounts on hold (without having Automatic Request turned on for their wishlists) and hence the big jump. Has anyone else noticed this?

Sniffle - not me!

I'm in pretty much the same place for my WL.

Something is definitely up.  Take a look at this thread from yesterday:  http://www.paperbackswap.com/forum/topic.php?t=167927

I went and checked mine today:

Your position: 111 of 123 - Wishes granted last week: 2 - Estimate: 56 weeks

BAHA!  I think I'll just go buy the book.  hehehehe

Pffft.  Nope.  Seriously, I'm happy for all of you who have made great leaps but my WL has been pretty darned static. :(

Nothing of mine has changed. Of course, some of my WL's are for books that are worth some real money on Amazon or Ebay. But I can wish, right? ;-)

Some of my positions on the WL have changed dramatically... I'm much further down on the WL than I was for some books... Yay!

Others haven't changed much or not at all.  I'm really hoping that this means that TPTB purged or suspended inactive accounts.

Whatever is causing the jump in the WL positions, it is so nice to know that I am not the only obsessive person checking my WL position daily!!! LOL Now if members will just POST the books that I am so much closer to having in my hot little hands...

I'm sorry to rain on the parades of those who think you moved up, but sadly, you are no closer to the front of the lines than you were before. :-(

They just started counting the number of wishes differently. They're no longer including people who are on vacation hold without credits. This change has no effect on how long it will be before you actually get the book. If you moved up 15 spots for a book (and it wasn't posted 15 times), then that indicates there are 15 people on vacation hold ahead of you. If they all stay on hold, you would have been offered that book when you were #15 using the previous method of counting. Using this new way, you now have to wait until you are #1 or until a book gets passed over due to requestor conditions.

I haven't moved up at all. Though, for most books I'm already #1 (of 1 in a lot of cases). I try not to add books with wish lists bigger than 5.

I have a question, I'm curious to know why some people have the same book listed multiple times on their wish list list.

Maureen. they probably are wishing for different versions- paperback and hardcover, for example.

I used to check mine weekly, removing those I really didn't want anymore. I haven't done it in a while - looks like a good time!

Maureen - I put multiple bindings and ISBN's of the same title on my WL because I really want that book and the more versions that you can list will up your chances of getting it.

For one of my books I went from postion 145 to 130 overnight, and no wishes were granted.  But for most of my WL books I have stayed the same.
