I'm late in responding here, but I've read the first 2, Jennifer, and really enjoyed them.  Corine has spunk and brains, and there are some interesting plot elements combined with what I'd call "homespun" magic -- salt, hexes, charms, etc.  I read the Jax books first, and liked them as well.

She is really good.  Her book tend to be more gritty.  But she also writes under 2 other aliases  Ellen Connor (new- haven't tried) and Ava Gray (These are a littel lighter but still good writing)

Her characters are not dumb, they are generally deep and complex not real light reading but involving.

Hope this helps, I really like her and if you check out her website she has free reads so you can get idea of her works!
