Has anyone read The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman?  I was in the bookstore today and found myself drawn to this book.  It doesn't seem to be the type of book I would normally read but after reading the back cover I was totally intrigued.  I have just WL'ed it but there are so many people ahead of me.

Has anyone read it?  Like it?  Don't Like it?

I read it over the summer and enjoyed it.  It wasn't the easiest read- it had a lot of "textbook" style of information, but the story intrigued me.

As Caryn said, it wasn't the easiest read, but it was really an incredible testament to the kindness of people during the most wretched of times. Even taking it as a character sketch of the titular character, it's a worthy read.

I started it but put it down, I wasn't prepared for the subject matter. I guess I wasn't in the mood for a war book. I've heard it's very good

I read it, it was only ok, I don't understand why it was so popular.  It's the same with The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, which I just finished, hated the ending, but then I didn't know till I went online and read some reviews that it was supposed to be a take on Hamlet.

I'm reading a great book right now, Too Many Men by Lily Brett, historical, with a twist of supernatural.
