Has anyone read The Zookeeper's Wife by Diane Ackerman? I was in the bookstore today and found myself drawn to this book. It doesn't seem to be the type of book I would normally read but after reading the back cover I was totally intrigued. I have just WL'ed it but there are so many people ahead of me. Has anyone read it? Like it? Don't Like it? |

I read it over the summer and enjoyed it. It wasn't the easiest read- it had a lot of "textbook" style of information, but the story intrigued me. |

As Caryn said, it wasn't the easiest read, but it was really an incredible testament to the kindness of people during the most wretched of times. Even taking it as a character sketch of the titular character, it's a worthy read. |

I started it but couldn't get into it. |

I started it but put it down, I wasn't prepared for the subject matter. I guess I wasn't in the mood for a war book. I've heard it's very good |

I read it, it was only ok, I don't understand why it was so popular. It's the same with The Story of Edgar Sawtelle, which I just finished, hated the ending, but then I didn't know till I went online and read some reviews that it was supposed to be a take on Hamlet. I'm reading a great book right now, Too Many Men by Lily Brett, historical, with a twist of supernatural. Karen |
