I am interested in these for my 13 year old son.  He has loved the Goosebumps books for years, and I have heard that Cirque du Freak is similar but aimed at older kids.  Is this correct?  I'd be interested in any opinions or feedback that anyone has- thanks!

Hi Lesley, I haven't read any of the Cirque du Freak books, but I know a few friends who have and enjoyed it greatly. I think that the description you've gotten is accurate, and that it would definitely be enjoyed by a 13-year-old guy. You might also want to check out the following authors for middle-school boys: Don Calame (Swim the Fly), Brent Hartinger (Project Sweet Life), Scott Westerfeld. Hope this helps! :)

Thank you Stephanie, that does help!  I will check out the other authors as well.  My son is an avid reader and mainly likes fantasy and stuff like Goosebumps, but I'm always looking for books that he might enjoy.  I have ordered (new) the first Cirque du Freak for him for his birthday and have been trying to decide if I should order other books in the series from PBS, or if I should just wait and see if he likes the first one.  I think I'll go ahead and order the next couple so that he will have them soon after he reads the first one.  Thanks again for the feedback!
