I just can't seem to books with authors whose last names start with I,Q,U, X

I read comptemporary fiction especially cozy mysteries, chick lit and Christian fiction

I don't know if these would fit your needs but I used Lisa Unger for my "U" and got but still haven't read: The Red Heroine by Qiu Xiaolong.   I'm not sure I'm going to make it at this point.  I still have three and I keep reading other things!!
