I had seen the movie and remembered it to be fairly entertaining, but found the story a bit boring a disappointing. I was stuck reading it since I had nothing else with me (read while in the docs office, so it was good for that at least). I was looking for a quick read, which I found, but it wasn't all that great.

Book starts a little slow. My daughter almost lost interest because the mermaid wasn't mentioned until half way through. After the book was finished she really loved it!

SUMMARY:

Hailey and Claire are spending their last summer together whe they discover something at the bottom of the murky pool at the Capri Beach Club. There in the depths is a mysterious and beautiful creature with a sharp tongue and a broken heart: a mermaid named Aquamarine who has left her six sisters to search for love on land. Now, as this mythological yet very real being starts to fade in the burning August sun, a rescue is begun.
On the edge of growing up, during a summer that is the hottest on record, Hailey and Claire are discovering that life can take an unpredictable course, friendship is forever, and magic can be found in the most unexpected places.

I remember reading this book in the 5th grade. I was OBSESSED. If you have a daughter that is that age that enjoys reading, this is a wonderful book. I could not put it down. I got in trouble multiple times for reading during class.
Seriously, this was the first book I got that obsessed with. I don't recall what happened to my copy of it, but I'm sure it is in good hands now.

This book was short and simple but fun and enjoyable to read. I think the message was really nice too. Things may change but memories and true friendship never does.

Aquamarine gave my 8 year old step-daughter an entire summer's worth of mermaid games to play in the pool. Aqua is a beautiful and exciting Mermaid that will touch every little girl's heart.

Very cute but simple. I don't know how they could make an entire movie from this short little story.
