The creepy attempted takeover of a small town that evolves through the other-worldly cabinet games in a new arcade. Only the smartest and fastest youth are allowed to play; anything can happen when the game ends.
A quick read, even if the subject matter is a bit unsettling. Paints the world of video games in a mythic light, giving it exorbitant power (which actually comes from aliens). Very old-school.
Out-dated technologically speaking, but still vibrant in it's presentation of thematic content and the characters are mostly believable.
Worth the 4 hours (or more if you really like to wring the pleasure out of reading).
