I wish I could give a copy of this book to every 12- to 18-year-old young man I know, because it counteracts a lot of nonsense boys pick up from 2010 American culture. This books teaches the importance of self-sufficiency, of courtesy, of treating women like potential spouses instead of buddies (or, God forbid, "friends with benefits"), and of pursuing virtues like truth and honor and actually pushing yourself to achieve something. Direct advice like this is rare these days. It's written in a style that makes the lessons interesting to readers, not pedantic or preachy. Well done, McKays!

(Now if I can just get a copy of Wendy Schalit's "A Return to Modesty" to every young woman I know too ...)
