That doesn't necessarily mean a new product will be for sale on that date. Maybe just announced, or even up for pre-sale. No one knows exactly what it is yet, either!

Technology moves so fast these days there are newer things coming out all the time. That doesn't mean that the older one you already have won't work, I don't understand why people are always upgrading to the newest, biggest, and best thing to come out.  The only one who comes out ahead in that game is the company who sells it.

Wonder If they will Lower the Nook like Amazon did....      This is getting silly!  Both B&N   and   Amazon just came out with these just before Christmas!  How are Customers supose to know [or them]  How they hold up in the long run!     What they should be doing is getting more ebooks!  And lowering those prices!

That's not up to Amazon or B&N. That's in the hands of the publishers.

What is so strange about this? If you've dealt with any sort of electronics, it's par for the course. As soon as you walk out of the store's door with your new purchase, you can bet it'll be outdated before you get to your car.

I think that's be true since... well... humanity started selling each other things. There's always someone, somewhere, with a new wheel coming out tomorrow.

Barbara, tech these days are NOT made to last more then 2-3 years MAX.  Loads of people buy the newer, better tech every 6-8 months.  Look at all those people that bought ipads and now prepaid for ipad2.  Coworker bought an ipad hrmm 8weeks ago and is intending to buy the ipad2 for thanksgiving.

Will be interested in what they are coming out with. I liked the Nook and Nook color best about of the ereaders I tried.

My brother, who is a patent attorney for some technology companies, tells me that the things we buy are at least three years outdated before they're on the shelves.  I've proofread some of the patents...I believe him.  I'm still typing on my computer that I bought in 2007 and sewing on my 1970s sewing machine, though...just because it's outdated doesn't mean it doesn't work.

Yep.  Just look at Apple.  I've probably had 5 versions of the Ipod over the years.
