I have my books in alphabetical order by authors on my real bookshelf here at home and every few months I do an inventory of my real bookshelf against my PBS bookshelf and have noticed that authors who write using three names; ie: Tara Taylor Quinn; part of her books are listed in the Ts, part in the Qs. Seems like this would be a simple fix in the database program. |

It's probably they way they are imput into the listings. So you can probably fix this yourself by submitting data edits to make sure the author's name matches in all listings. |

You would think so, but it really isnt. Since PBS uses a data base compiled elsewhere it isnt a fix that can be done via programming. The Data Edit team is hard at work correcting and editing the data base all the time. There is also an ongoing Author Clean Up Project that can be linked from Member Tools at the bottom of the page under the My Account heading.

That bugs the Data Team as much as anyone else, but there is nothing that helps. Unless something has been changed recently, you can edit 'til you are blue in the face but for some strange reason a middle name or initial randomly throws off that sort. The only way to change it is to remove the middle name/initial but then you are not listing the author by their true name. |
