I love to read mysteries but don't care for a lot of the language  and sex that are in a lot of books nowadays.  I don't mind if the book has some foul language but not where it is like every other word or so.

Could anyone recommend some authors that you have read that I might could try?  Thanks for your input.

I looked at your wishlist and you have several good authors there. I also really enjoy the Jacobia Tipptree series by S. Graves and the Deborah Knott series by Margaret Maron.  With Deborah Knott, you know she has sex but you don't get more information than you ever wanted to know!

I also just began the Agatha Raisin series by M. C. Beaton and that was a classic English cozy--and no sex at all.

Will add more later if I can get my brain into a higher gear!

Word of warning - there is sex in the Agatha Raisin series later on, but it is very non-explicit.  The same for her wonderful Hamish Macbeth series.

Any of the classic authors should be fine:  Christie, Sayers, Marsh, Allingham, etc.  And they are all very enjoyable.

Thanks for the suggestions.  I have read Sayers and Christie years ago and enjoyed them.  I'm not familiar with Marsh, Allingham.  I'll look them up along with the ones the Michele mentioned.

I am presently reading Beverly Connor's books and have really liked them.  I have read the Diane Fallon series and just started on her other series Lindsey Chamberlain.  They have very little bad language and sex is barely mentioned, only hinted at.

I'm of the same opinion as you are Cynthia. I can give you a ton of suggestions if you want them, but here are a few: Emily Brightwell's Mrs. Jeffries series is very safe.  Carol Higgins Clark; Nancy Atherton; Lilian Jackson Braun; Cynthia Baxter; Emilie Richards; Margaret Grace; John J. Lamb.  If you liked Christie and Sayers you will like Ngaio Marsh as well. Really great series.

Thanks Joy. I'll check some of those out.
