Do you go to author signings? (I mean, of course, if they happen local to you!) I just was at a local (not used, but independent) bookstore and saw that Kate Jacobs would be there in January signing and speaking about "Knit Two," her sequel to "The Friday Night Knitting Club." I've had TFNKC on my list to get for AGES- I didn't even know there WAS a sequel. I am considering going (I guess I'd pick up the new HC and get an autograph, but the thing is, I think I'd rather wait and eventually get it for a single credit here than $20+, you know?) If you go to author events, do you feel bad NOT getting the book? I guess it's just neat that she's coming (this is Raleigh, NC, for any one interested.)

the only author event i've been to (Christy Barritt), I already owned her books so I just brought them with me to have her sign. it was really cool to meet her and get to talk with her about her books and she also knew me b/c i've reviewed her books on my blog. i wish more authors that i like did signings around where i love but for some reason they avoid the DC Metro area like it's a plague!!!

I live in Michigan. I do not blame the authors for avoiding us. We have two of the most dangerous cities in the US. If I didn't live here and wasn't stuck here, I'd stay away too.

As for The Friday Night Knitting Club and it's sequel, I've read both. And I would say both books were worth buying new. The sequel wasn't as good as the first, but it wrapped the story up where the first one left you hanging. I didn't buy either of the books new, but like I said, they are worth it.
