Publishers Brace for authors to reclaim book rights in 2013.

Interesting article. There may be more backlist titles hit the market after 2013, either paper or ebook form.

I know a few authors who want to handle their 'out of print' books, but can't because they're still under contract with a publisher who has no interest on future printings, not even in ebook form.

It'll be interesting to see how many authors step in and reclaim their work. I know backlists in series are a sore point for many. Several authors have books in mid series that they don't own and can't get out in ebook format. Andre Norton has a trilogy where her estate has book 1 and 3 out, but #2 seems to be stalled. She wrote it with another author, and could be having problem with her estate coming to a republish agreement with the other author or their estate and/or publishers.

Will be a rather interesting year, I've a few writer friends in the same boat, out of print but cannot get into ebook format because the publisher does not see it as popular enough, and wont do anything to help promote or reprint.
