I got 4 books in a BOB. All 4 of them are in pretty shoddy condition - 2 of them I would not have considered postable here at all.  I'm really surprised b/c not only was the person's BOB feedback all positive, a lot of it was *glowingly* positive. One of the books I got is water damaged (obvious, with old staining), one is badly bent and the cover is torn, another is badly yellowed/discolored although at least postable, and the last the cover is filthy. One was listed as a hardcover and turned out not to be. I sent this person 4 like-new books (two were once-read), two were fairly heavy hardcovers and the other 2 were trade paperbacks. I get back 4 crummy mass market paperbacks 2 of which I can't even repost. I don't even want to ask the other member to send me *replacement* books b/c if this is the quality of everything on their shelf I'm not interested in receiving a bunch more junk.

I'm feeling a little gypped. I PM'd the other person and have not heard back. Is the one week for a response on a bad transaction the rule for BOBs the way it is on for-credit transactions? I know I can always leave the other person negative feedback, but that's really not my style...

Not to be mean or anything, but you really should leave truthful feedback, so when other members consider doing a trade with this person, they don't only see the same glowingly positive reviews you saw, but get a more realistic picture of the member with whom they are considering trading.

I would give it a couple of days for them to get back to you.  Then depending on that response, I would leave feedback

I generally have had wonderful luck with the books I've gotten on PBS.  The great majority have been just marvelous.  BUT, I've had 3 BoBs never show up. One had 7 books in it.  UGGH!  As far as I know there's nothing at all that can be done about it.  I'm not confident that they were actually mailed in the first place.  So I'm out all those books.  It's a bummer.  I didn't think about contacting R&R I just left feedback.  I kind of think DC might be a nice requirement for BoB's considering the high percentage of those that go "lost in the mail" but that's another topic and doesn't help your shoddy box.  Yuck  :-(

If you clearly asked for a response and don't hear back in a week, you can contact the Admin Team (from the Help Center.)  They highly encourage communication. :-)

I understand not wanting to leave Neg. feedback. That isn't my style either. I would feel so bad for that person if I left neg. feedback even if they deserved it.

I also do BOB & my only bad time was when someone NEVER mailed my books. I had 4 books in that trade. She requested from me too. Ignored all emails too. After a week or so from the trade she was no longer a BOB member either.

If I were you I'd wait a few days. I know a week seems like a long time but if you plan on leaving neg. feedback I'd wait a week. This way in the neg. feedback you can have "I waited a week and never heard back from trader."

I'm sorry about the bad BOB & I understand about feeling cheated out of books. I would too.

Also I have gotten books in a BOB trade that in no way would be posted able her. I even wrote the person about it kind of as a gental reminder. I should have left neg. feedback but it was like 1 out of 3 or 4 books so I felt it would be wrong to leave bad feedback.

But after what happened to you I think I will if the person doesn't replace the book. That may be what it takes so BOBs won't go bad.

Since you based your opinion on the feedback left, you must think that the feedback should be be fully truthful about the trade right?. How would you feel if you found out that 5 other people got boxes from this person and felt too back to leave negative feedback? You'd probably be pretty upset that you didn't have that info before trading with this person. I recommend that you wait a week for a response and then leave honest feedback (you don't have to be mean, just put in there that the books were not in postable condition), if they make it right, I'd still leave honest feedback about the poorly kept books, but that they did ___ to make right by you. If it was just a fluke, it will show that way in the person's history, if it wasn't then the pattern will emerge.
