Linda Fairstein's novel Bad Blood takes you into the underground world of New York City. There is a whole world of men called Sandhogs who have built the subway system, water systems, and anything under the ground in New York. They have their own justice system. After an underground explosion kills the brother of the defendant in a murder case Alex is prosecuting, Alex and Mike enter the very private vengeful world of underground New York.

This is the 9th of the series. It can be read alone, but the story will make more sense if you have read her other books.

Gets off to a rather slow courtroom start, with Alexandra Cooper trying what appears to be a weak case, but the action builds steadily towards an exciting end. I really liked this book!

Interesting characters and relationships. They sound like people I would like to know, competent people who care about one another and others. Exciting plot with many twists, in an exotic environment. The author gives us excellent value for our time.

The first that I have read by this author. I need to go back and pick up her original in this series.

A riveting tale of up-to-the-minute urban intrigue, Bad Blood is rich with New York City lore and fascinating legal insights that only Fairstein, Manhattan's former sex crimes prosecutor, can deliver. Told in her signature authentic style, Bad Blood is packed with the same twists and turns that made her last novel, Death Dance, a runaway bestseller and that never fail to thrill her legions of devoted readers.

Another great book by Linda Fairstein. It was interesting to read about the whole underground water system. I had no idea about all that.

So if you want to know EVERY little fact about the water tunnel system under NYC. You'll want to pick this one up. I love Mike & Mercer, oh do the details keep coming. From the how the water system works, to the history of the Brooklyn bridge, to how the tunnels are formed. I love that Fairstein's novels are based in Manhattan, having grown up in NYC, but if all of the uneccessary city history were to be edited out of this book, it would be a short story.

I was very disappointed in her last book, Death Dance, so I was not too sure about reading anything more by this author. However, for me at least, she's back on track with this one. I enjoyed it immensley. She brings the courtroom to life. I love the Jeopardy! snippets. This one is a keeper.

There is a whole world of men called Sandhogs who have built the subway system, water systems, and anything under the ground in New York. They have their own justice system. After an underground explosion kills the brother of the defendant in a murder case Assistant DA Alexandra Cooper is prosecuting, Alex and Mike Chapman enter the very private vengeful world of underground New York. This is probably one of the best in the series.
