I remember watching this world series with my dad as a young kid. It is the first baseball memory that I can really remember. I never realized the truth about the team until after reading this book. It was eye opening to read about this team... Everyone knows ball players live interesting lives. I loved how the book used mainly first account stories to paint the real picture of the 1986 New York Mets.
Now I understand what happened to that club. Excellent book that finally tells the story of what the team was like, the personalities and why they won.
Did you know that after the "86 World Series Bill Buckner was so depressed when the Sox got back to Boston that he tried to commit suicide...he stepped in front of a bus...but it went through his legs.
