This may or may not be something we can use with PBS, but I am curious.  I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 & I have a barcode scanner app downloaded on it.

I've used it a couple of times just to see how it works, but now I'm wondering if any specific barcode scanner can be used with PBS.

For instance, what I really want to use it for is when I type in an ISBN # into the search bar, is there an app that I can use on my phone to just scan the ISBN instead of having to type it out or is this not available?

The iphone app works pretty well to scan in barcodes; I use it when browsing the UBS to see if a book is WL.

The android app info says it has a scanner too, but I don't know if it works.

Both apps are listed at the top of the page under the PBS logo on the home screen.

Okay, well I will have to play around with it to see if I can figure it out.  I have never had an iphone before.

Thanks for the info, Linda!

There is nothing about apps under the logo on the home screen. Can you tell me what the iphone app is called, so I can find it?

I'm not crazy about the iPhone app.

The scanner works okay, unless the book is really old.  My husband is getting rid of all of his Starwars books, due to the not cannon thing, anyway, I did NOT want to type in all those ISBN's. Probably half the books were old enough, I still had to type them in and then they weren't wishlisted anyway.

And I don't like that I can't see my lists there either. I would love to be able to make lists of the authors I have, so when I'm out I can easily glance at it to see if I have that book or not, but I end up having to go to the full site for that.

Stephanie H.:

You might like to try Goodreads.com and the Goodreads app. That's what I use to keep track of which books I already have when I'm out at a book sale or at a store. The Goodreads app is definitely one of my favorite apps of all time. :) And it has a barcode scanner!

I actually wasn't aware that there were Paperbackswap apps, so I'm going to try those out!

A co-worker just told me about Goodreads and I have been exploring it during my downtime at work.  I have the app, but I haven't really had time to play with it and see what I can do with it yet.  I will have to spend some time playing with it this weekend, Thanks!!
