The characters weren't even developed yet they were fixated on one another. The heroine was pathetic in her adoration of this hero. I was very disappointed and couldn't even finish this book.

Typical Lori Foster. Not exactly great writing, but if you like mega-alpha men & quirky heroines, this is a fast, easy read. Just check reality & your brain at the door

If you like steamy sex scenes, evil bad guys, good cops, a circle of friends, and a cute dog this is a book for you! There's page turning action and you're guaranteed a happily ever after ending. Many characters from the series make an appearance, so it can feel like a visit with old friends.

Summary:
Alice took down a brutal human trafficker and now is terrified of becoming a victim. Because of this she survives off her instincts and hiding from her past. Detective Reese has other plans for Alice. He wants to figure her out and learn more about her. He's determined to get to the bottom of all her secrets. Unfortunately, the two of them get in a little deeper than either one of them expected. It seems things get a little hot and heavy when corruption and possibly death is on the line.

My thoughts:
Lori Foster has a style that is all her own and I've been a fan for a very long time. She's spicy, mysterious, and funny. I've never been bored reading one of her stories. The characters are always described enough that they have distinct personalities, the romance is always intriguing enough to make me want them to end up together, and the mysteries usually keep me guessing and rooting for the main characters. This is a classic Foster and fans like me are not going to be disappointed.

Didn't like this one as much although I did finish it. The chemistry between Alice & Reese just wasn't there. The sex seemed forced and almost textbook like. I think they just weren't a very playful, flirty couple. There were some funny moments but I had to do a lot of skim reading. It also bothered me when Alice confessed about her past, it kind of got swept under the rug even though Reese is supposed to be such a good cop. I think the redeeming quality of this book was actually scenes with Rowdy.
