I really enjoyed this book! Some of McDonald's books have a sloppy story line, but this one was wonderful!

A wonderful book with somewhat of a surprise ending. We read aloud as a family, and every single one of us enjoyed it, with shouts of "read another chapter" at the conclusion of our daily reading.

Written originally in 1879, this copy was published in 1983 which shows how beloved this classic has been for over a century. Not like today's stories, written by one of our foremost Christian fairy-tale writers, this book is unique, relaxing and enjoyable to read. Not a fairy tale it still holds the charm and joy of one.
