Anyone ordered a book for a deal, received the requested book and not the "freebies"? I sent a PM to the sender and haven't heard back yet (it's still early though). Would I be out-of-luck for the deal books if they don't follow through? I'm not saying they won't since I don't know that, but I haven't really thought about it not getting the deal before this!  Debbie

I had two similar problems.  The first one happened last year.  I arranged a swap with another pbs member, and sent my 6 books in good faith.  I never received the books from her.  She never let me know that she received the books either.  I did a little research in the forums and saw that she had listed a set of 3 of the books in one of the games.  So I know she got them.  Her account was listed as suspended or closed not long after that.

The second one happened just a month ago.  I did a Box O Books swap.  I mailed the book, they marked it received, but didn't mail out my book until they received theirs.  Which is okay.  I don't mind.  But they mailed my book on 5/10.  It took 5 days for them to receive my book.  I still haven't received my book that was mailed on 5/10.  I pm'd her last week.  No response yet.

I guess after the 10th I'll notify the powers that be, and see what they can do.  I'd say ask the librarian.  As long as you haven't deleted your emails, or your thread is still available they should be able to help you.  I would think.

Deborah - did you confirm that you actually got the book from the person offering the deal?

What happens sometimes is the person offering the deal cancels the ordered book transaction for some reason (could be RCs, can't find the book, didn't follow through and it timed out in the system). The request from their shelf rolls over to the next person with the book available and you end up getting the requested book from someone who has no clue about your deal make with someone else.

It doesn't look like the order rolled over, and my PM indicating I received it went to the person I had PM'd about the deal in the first place. Thanks for suggesting that though; as I said, it never had occurred to me that I wouldn't get the deal books so I hadn't thought of that angle either! Debbie

Last year I ordered a book in a two for one deal and only received the book I ordered. I pm'd the sender and she accidentally sent my book to someone else so she refunded my credit. Recently, I received a book I did not order from a member but not the book I did order. Again, the sender goofed so she refunded my credit. Mistakes happen :-)

So far I have had wonderful luck with all my swaps, both boxing and for credit deals.  The only problem I have encountered, which to me is not really a true problem, is that I have received some books that were probably unpostable & were not marked as such.  As long as they're readable I'm okay with that, but one did have a large hole through some of the pages.  Oh well...

I've posted deals in the bazaar before, and a person requested a book from me but didn't PM their freebie choices. I didn't even think to check the thread when the order came in with no PM. So, I mailed her one book to her only to receive a message a few days later that she didn't get her freebies. I searched the forums, and she had posted in the thread only. I mailed the extras out to her. It's always good practice to PM someone offering a deal to confirm.

With the BOBs issue--sometimes I'm not able to mail for a few days due to my unpredictable schedule (I'm a social worker). I've had someone complain that I mailed after marking the other person's rec'd. I really wish they had PMed me first before leaving the comment. There's no place to offer rebuttals in the feedback section, either.

With the unpostable versus postable, I've received several books (mostly through the BOB) that were in extremely poor condition (pages falling out, softcovers with excessive wear & tearing, water damage, etc). I've never complained about this. The same person that complained about me mailing after receiving also said that my books should have been unpostables. I would never post anything in unpostable condition--regular reading wear does not make for unpostable, however, if a book isn't in good condition, I won't post it. I was very offended and have considered not renewing my bob subscription when it comes due next month due to the vulnerability of the system and lack of recourse.

I've only once not had freebies come with the book I ordered.  I contacted the member about them, and she found the two books set aside with other books she still had to mail out, and sent them on to me.

Make sure to contact them and ask for the books. It may have slipped their notice. If they don't follow through contact TPTB. Bazaar deals are outside of the system and the site usually won't do anything, but they also won't let someone get away with running bogus deals.
