A Victorian murder mystery featuring a London Police Superintendent and his socialite wife. The authors characterizations and historical research is flawless. A very good read!

Excellent book with interesting plot. When a dead body is found on the steps of a member of the English upper class in London, Pitt begins a search that leads to intrigue and sub-plots. In typical Anne Perry fashion, social ills of the time period are highlighted along with the contrast of the social classes in London in the late 1800s. I enjoy watching the characters develop throughout the series and we learn more about Sargeant Tellman in this book. You won't be disappointed in this tale.
