Has anyone read this?  I just saw it at Books-a-Million yesterday and it looks good, but I'm always so weary about sequels and/or prequels to such well loved boks.

I haven't read it and don't think I will.  It is a book recently written that is a prequel to the Anne of Green Gables series by L.M. Montgomery.   This book is written by a different author and is going to focus on Anne's life before we met her when she came to live with the Cuthberts.

I LOVED this series and so love the Anne character.  I would not want to read anyting that would change the Anne who lives so vividly in my head.  If the original author had written the book, I would read it in a heartbeat.

The book in question (article http://www.canada.com/edmontonjournal/news/story.html?id=5482cc2e-dd52-40b3-94c3-621f8cb9fdf9&k=49996)

There is some info about it on BookPage XTRA.  It did interest me, but don't know if I want to read it-like some others here, I am leery about prequels, esp. written by different authors.

But, the author of "Before Green Gables" was approved by Montgomery's estate, and  even Montgomery's granddaughter approved of the story before it was published.  The author is a huge fan of Anne and re-read the series before she wrote the book.   So if that's the case I might give it a chance...!  The author also said in the BookPage XTRA some parts were hard to write-like what happened to Anne's parents.  It was an interesting article.

I recently read a very favorable review of this book, so I'm adding it to my reminder list.
