Awful, simply awful. After a couple of chapters (in which the author mistakes short, choppy chapters for building tension ...), I skipped to the end, just to find out what the "twist" was. What a load of codswallop.

Wait, wait, wait a minute. After reading the other reviews - Yes, I agree it was a tad bit long, but to give it a poor rating based on the unrealistic ending?! You could tell the genre was fantasy before the ending so why throw shade when you should have expected that.
I was pleasantly surprised by the ending - I never saw that coming!!

Wow! This was compelling reading told in alternating perspectives between Louise (potential mistress) and Adele (wife). I saw reviews exclaiming they never saw the ending coming so I was expecting a twist. I felt I saw it coming, could see it a mile away! That's exactly what was playing out-until the last 4 pages!-I was wrong! What?! Okay, I really didn't see that coming. If you read this, let it play out. I bet you won't see it coming either. It's clever. It kept me reading to the end. Did I like it? I am not completely sure. Maybe?

If anyone can explain to me what happened at the end of this book, please do. 2/3 of it were pretty good, really. A love triangle of sorts, with a little psychotic craziness to make it interesting. But man, the last 1/3, I got so lost at the end, it's too bad, because the first part was good. Not only confusing, but a little too 'fantasy world' for me.

This was an interesting book that definitely kept me guessing as to what was really going on!
-
I enjoyed the writing style (besides the repeated use of the word "dregs" and the single use of the word "retard"). It flowed easily and quickly and kept my attention.
-
There were several unique and fascinating elements that I have not found in other psychological thrillers (a genre that tends to lean towards boilerplate copy).
-
The ending was what prevented it from being a 5-star book for me, though. And while I can see how the ending would have been the best part for many readers, it just did not sit right with me.

This book grabbed me from page one and I couldn't stop reading it. After awhile I thought something was off but wasn't quite sure. Was this a fantasy book? How did she know her husband was cheating and with who? Her new best friend she purposely made? And why was she giddy about it? It seemed there was a plan to her madness

I didn't like the characters one bit. They all seemed unreal. As was the ending. I hated it! Oh well, different strokes for different folks!!

This book is way way too long, it has a lot of repeating in it which makes it tedious at times

I don't usually like a book that goes back and forth back and forth, that is a writing style I hate but yet this one seems to work

There is a twist at the very end (that's why so many don't like the ending) and I don't know for sure how I feel about it, it came as a shock because I didn't see it coming at all!

Book Description
Why is everyone talking about the ending of Sarah Pinborough's Behind Her Eyes?
Louise is a single mom, a secretary, stuck in a modern-day rut. On a rare night out, she meets a man in a bar and sparks fly. Though he leaves after they kiss, she's thrilled she finally connected with someone.
When Louise arrives at work on Monday, she meets her new boss, David. The man from the bar. The very married man from the barâ¦who says the kiss was a terrible mistake, but who still can't keep his eyes off Louise.
And then Louise bumps into Adele, who's new to town and in need of a friend. But she also just happens to be married to David. And if you think you know where this story is going, think again, because Behind Her Eyes is like no other book you've read before.
David and Adele look like the picture-perfect husband and wife. But then why is David so controlling? And why is Adele so scared of him?
As Louise is drawn into David and Adele's orbit, she uncovers more puzzling questions than answers. The only thing that is crystal clear is that something in this marriage is very, very wrong. But Louise can't guess how wrongâand how far a person might go to protect their marriage's secrets.
In Behind Her Eyes, Sarah Pinborough has written a novel that takes the modern day love triangle and not only turns it on its head, but completely reinvents it in a way that will leave readers reeling.

My Review
I liked this book until I reached the ending and the ending was so unbelievable that the book was totally spoiled for me. The characters were Gone Girl type characters and the storyline was interesting but the ending was too far out there for me to believe. Not sure that I would read any other books by this author and I would have to recommend this book with a WARNING: strange far-out unbelievable ending!

I'm still sorting out how I feel about this one. It starts off a tad slow and I almost gave up on it, but it does pick up about midway through.

The main character, Louise, is relatable, but there are points where she gets quite annoying and you just want her to get her s@^t together.

I agree with the other reviews that the ending was far-fetched, but it was an interesting twist. Worth giving a shot.

I very much enjoyed this book. It was a quick weekend read for me and the ending I thought was great. A twist on a twist. Loved it.
