Completely NOT ok for someone to do that!  I'd send in feedback - the other member needs to be told that's against the rules.

I would send that information to the Team. You may not be able send them who did it, but they can see it and will contact him/her. Member's cannot require someone request more when they post to FIFO.

Not really sure how they are going to get a request for 2 books if they are denying the RC - wouldn't they need to accept and then tell you in order to know if you are going to request more or not? The only thing I can think of is they posted it and then decided to offer it in the WL thread so they are (not successfully) trying to cancel the request by denying conditions.

Weird. I guess a person has a right to not send their books. They're probably not going to have much luck with that though.

The person has a right to not send their book yes.  But they can NOT require someone to order more than one book from them at a time if they are posting WL books FIFO.  Definitely use the "contact us" link at the bottom of the page to let the PBS team know about this other member.

Lisa W., the TOU states that when you post a book you are indicating you are ready and willing to send it out when it is requested. So, essentially they are saying you do not have the right to not send your book out when it's requested. If you cancel very many times they will look at the reason you are giving, and they will suspend you for cancelling so much. I have so many books that sometimes they get lost and mixed around, and I worry all the time that I'm going to get slammed with a suspension one of these days for cancelling too much!!!

I feel the same way Sherry!  I have my books stored in about 4 different places and so they go missing for a few months at a time quite often.  If you get suspended, I'm in trouble too.  ;(

What Sherry said.  And yes, you may wish to forward the message to TPTB so if they review this members account/transactions, it will be clear what has been happening.  Otherwise the account may look odd, but PBS Admin may not know why it's funky.

Now I read it as not necessarily asking her to order two books, but that she wants her to buddy her a 2nd credit to cover the postage and her "time".  Which of course she can't do either and she should be reported.

Sounds like a similar cancellation excuse to what I got the other day - I can't send out the 30 books requested from me all at once, I won't post them all at together next time-  What kind of excuses are these??  Just makes me crazy.

These people who turning down requests are just wrong! As Sherry says "that when you post a book you are indicating you are ready and willing to send it out when it is requested." I don't think it is fair or right to pick and choose whether you are going to send a book out and those folks need to be reported because they are definitely going against the rules that they agreed to when they signed up.

I can appreciate the need to watch your pennies and have a postage budget, but when that is the case, put your account on hold until you can afford to send books out again. (Personally, I would be delighted with a request for 30 books -- and amazingly enough, it is not that expensive to send that many books media mail!) So between the members who want you to request more than one book and the members saying you are requesting too many -- it just makes me crazy!

Oh, it can be read that way, Lori, though I didn't see it until you posted!

Andrea, you should definitely forward the pm to TPTB & report that swapper -- you'll be doing a service to all members of PBS.

I had a wish list book cancelled for a similar reason.  They said that they had too many requests for books to be mailed so they were cancelling my request.  It was very frustrating.  If you can't send a book for any reason, then don't post it!

This generally happens to new members when they are posting for the first time.  They haven't read the help docs or didn't understand the help docs, so they post and find they have 30 offers waiting.  Not that they are not willing to send them, just didn't realize they would be requested immediately and it is a financial burden.  My guess this was a new member because they state - I won't do that again.  I always cut new members slack (JMO)

I agree with Lori- to me it sounds like she is asking for 2 credits for the book because it is heavy which is against the rules and I would send it on to the PBS Team for review.

well the PO comes to pick up at homes now...

Isn't this only if you have a Priority box, and they'll pick up other mail along with it?

Last  heard,  the P.O. wouldn't come to my house for just media mail. We have no outgoing package drop off in our area, and nearest blue box is at the P.O. So I'd have to go there anyway.

I can understand being overwhelmed by trying to mail 30 books at once.  I would hope that she didn't cancel all of them.  If I were in the situation, I would make sure I got the WL books out at least.

If you do online postage, your postal carrier certainly CAN take your outgoing packages when they deliver your mail.  They do not have to though.  Some carriers will not take any outgoing mail, be it packages or letters.

To actually schedule the carrier pickup, you do have to have a Priority Mail package.  Smaller POs may do it differently and come and pick up for you free of charge even if you don't have a Priority package.  Most will not though.

Yeah, here the PO will NOT pick up mail - unless you have a Priority Mail package.  If you have a Priority Mail package they will pick up all your packages (first class and media mail) but otherwise they will not pick up.  Mail cariers will not take packages here (even with preprinted postage) but will take letter envelopes.

Since I don't drive, I have checked into all local possibilities.  I wish I were in an area with a more flexible P.O. pick-up standard.  However, I have a wonderful mail carrier in all other respects, so I'm not complaining - they are going by the regs.

Won't work for me. They don't come to my house except to drop off a package on my front step, and they don't come the same time every day, nor do anything but ring the bell and take off. So there's no catching them when they're around.

We have nested boxes up the street, so don't have house to house service anywhere near here. Nor a blue box. Anything larger than a medium sized card has to be driven to the P.O., the nearest blue box.

I can barely get netflix DVD's in the mail out slot.

So even with online Postage I have to make a drive.

The PO makes more money off of Priority Mail than the cheaper rate classes like FC or Media.

I've heard from lots of people that they only can go to PO once a week--that makes sense to me depending on how far the PO is and the cost of gas, but that would be an excuse for delayed mailing not cancellation.

I know lots of folks are struggling with finances at this time, but they should just put their acct on hold if unable to afford postage til payday.
