And short stories.  I always try to keep one book on hand for when I have a fever.

Kaye-----------What is your doctor saying to do?  Did you have to go to the hospital?  Hope all is well!  I was told that there are cases of the flu in my area, but don't know if that is true or rumor. (of course if it is anywhere, it will spread)

My doctor put me on tamaflu, gave me a steroid short because I have asthma and he did not want it to go to my lungs plus a Zpack for the sinus infection I have also.  My body just aches and I have ran a fever.  He said that he was only testing me for the flu because at this point the only strain that was going around was the swine flu (or H1N1 whatever) and if it tested positive for the flu that was what I had.  I am feeling better today - so much so I am going to get busy reading, taking advantage of being in the bed!!!

Not so much for Kaye, but just sharing general info...

My daughter was sick for a couple weeks with a flu/virus. (Either two things back to back or a relapse.) We finally went to the doctor and she said at that point it didn't really matter which flu or virus it was, that there are several things with the same symptoms. (I think she said to treat for flu with Tamaflue it needs to be be first 24-48 hours and still running a fever.)

Anyway, she told us how they literally check a website every morning when they get to work to see what the CDC was recommending as it was changing constantly. The day we were there, they had started recommending not prescribing Tamaflu except for patients that were medically fragile. There's some worry the H1N1 bug will build resistance and then we're left with no treatment.

Our doc really likes Mucinex DM (over the counter) for when we have colds/flu.

I have several family members who have been really ill with flu-like symptoms and they swear by the AlkaSeltzer cold and flu medicine plus 2 Aleve (sp?).   They said they took both like clockwork and it made a real difference.  My daughter tried that but she just couldn't make herself choke down the Alkseltzer drink.

Heal quickly!!
