Delos - reviewed At Bertram's Hotel: A Miss Marple Mystery (Mystery Masters Series) on
I love English murder mysteries and this is one of the most entertaining. If you're an American, even if you have an active 'reading' imagination, there's something to be said for hearing everything with a correct British accent to help you imagine the wiley old Miss Marple deftly manipulating everyone around her.
This is billed as a Miss Marple mystery, however, she is little more than an eavesdropping snoop in this one. Yes, she does pick up some essential information, but Chief Detective Davy of Scotland Yard solves the two cases (a syndicated crime operation, and a murder). While the book held my interest, Davys sniffing out the hotel as central to the crime wave is a tad far fetched. As with most of her books, this one can be read easily in an evening.
