I get many of my audiobooks from the library.  I listen at work, so I go through them pretty quick.  My library selection is ok, but not great.  I noticed that people who don't live here can pay $40 a year for a membership to my library.  It got me thinking, it would be absolutely worth it to me to pay for a membership to an out of area library that has a good selection of downloadable audiobooks, and keeps up with the new releases.  It would be a lot cheaper than buying them or any of the rental programs out there. How can I find out which are the good libraries though?  I would guess the larger cities, New York, etc, but thats just a guess.  Any opinions out there?  How is your library downloadable audiobook selection? 

I have heard people talk about the Free Library of Philadelphia being a good source for ebooks/audiobooks.  If you live out of state you pay $35 for a card.  I haven't tried it because I wasn't really sure what I was doing when I got on there, but you would probably know more about it than I do.  Right now, I download a lot of audio books from Audible onto my Kindle, and I can put them on CDs, too.  I don't like to be tied down to my computer to listen to them and wasn't sure if you could only download to the computer or not, so I haven't investigated further.  Let me know if you end up getting a card and whether it's easy to do or not.
