Has anyone taken a Bible Study written by Beth Moore called Stepping up: A Journey through the Psalms of Ascent? I have a choice between this one and The Search for Significance: Seeing Your True Worth Through God's Eyes by Robert S. Magee for a class this Fall and am torn between the two. I have not read any of Beth Moore's books/studies, but I have heard that they can sometimes be quite "dark" and intense. Would like to hear opinions of either/or/both. |

I'm a huge fan of Beth Moore, and would highly recommend any of her books/Bible studies. I've read several, and have always found them to be uplifting and encouraging, and she really loves to dig into God's Word. |

I too am a huge fan of Beth Moore. I've seen her in person a few times, done a handful of her studies, and read her books. I was at the Raleigh, NC conference that the Bible study Psalms of Accent is based on, although I haven't done that study yet, I cannot imagine you ever being disappointed with her teachings. I don't know if "dark" is a good way to describe her, deep seems a better term. She is definitely intense. She definitely makes you more disciplined in being in the Word. She definitely makes you think & work at being a better Christ follower. I don't know anything about Magee but I say go for the Beth Moore study I'm sure you'll love it! I just finished that Beth Moore study, and I loved it. I got so much out of it, and felt so blessed by it. I would highly encourage you to do that one. |

Haven't read either study you're asking about, but I did "Breaking Free" and then attended a conference she spoke at. She is the opposite of 'dark' - she is enlightening and sheds some brightness on things that I'd seen before but never hit me with that intensity before. My life was changed for the better because of the study I did, and I highly recommend any of her studies to anyone wanting to know God passionately.

I've done a number of Beth Moore studies and Search for Significance. I have never done the Beth Moore that you mentioned though. I loved Search and lead it a number of times because it seems to touch so many people. Also, Beth Moores Breaking free is similar, and her name is a bigger draw. I'm sure that either one is good. |

I just started teaching Stepping Up last night! It is a great study, but Search for Significance is a classic and I am sure both would be awesome growing experiences. I think it depends whether you want something geared towards women or not. |
