I have been gleaning my shelves of my better medieval history books. Titles like Death and Life in the 10th Century, The Fourth Crusade, Women in Medieval Society etc. Most are the only copies in the system. Please take a look if medieval history is your subject.
Most are gone but I still have four really good ones.. The first three books are scholarly essays.
Images of Women in Antiquity (Some essay tops are birth rituals, infanticide, women in early Christianity, women and witchcraft in ancient Assyria, Celtic women in the early Middle Ages.)
Women and Work in Preindistrial Europe (Some essays are The Village Ale-Wife, Urban Domestic Slavery in the Middle Ages, Municiple Wet Nurses , Early Midwifery, Women in Business in the in Medieval France)
Women in Medieval Society (some essays are The Feudal Law of Child Custody in Medieval England, Marriage and Divorce in Medieval France, Dowries and Kinsmen in Early Medieval Venice, The Female Felon).
The Children's Crusade is a very readable study of the 13th century Chilren's Crusade where almost 100,00 children from all over Europe ,average age twelve ,were overcome by religious zeal and marched toward the Holy Land to "free it from the infidals." It follows their journey and the tragic ending. Last Edited on: 4/6/12 11:33 AM ET - Total times edited: 3 |
