I can't help it... I love Christie Ridgway. I am sure there is a book out there with her name on it that isn't stellar, but I am fornunate enough to have missed out on those.
I LOVED THIS BOOK... It is short, only 184 pages, but boy does she pack a whopper of a love story in that little bit of space. Not only does she get it ALL right, but she does it without making the book seem rushed or sloppy. This one I COULD NOT put down. I stayed up all night reading it because I just couldn't go to sleep until the very last page was read.
In this story Carly is a single girl who has been burned by a man and left to pick of the pieces of her broken heart. Its not so much the dud she was with that crushed her, but the loss of his daughter in her life. Now she is determined to quit her job and move back to Indiana to live out her life a plain Jane - no gain, but who cares?! At least there will be no pain. Unfortunately things don't see to be going Carly's way and when she attempts to quit her current job the new boss - who is hot Hot HOt HOT... guilts her into staying. Mackenzie James is just an average guy who is raising his 4 year old daughter alone, takes care of his dad, has a house full of dogs, cats, and a snake, and is bitter as hell over the divorce and his ex'es lack of concern for their daughter. He has vowed to NEVER fall in love again - NOPE, won't be going there....
Guess its not Mack's day either beccause one look and they both are hooked. They deny it, run around it, and eventually give in to it and let me tell ya, the love sceens are soooooooo romantic and hot.... For a short little pad of a book this one packs a punch!!!! I highly recommend it.
