I, too have noticed that Lion Brand uses Big Lots to liquidate their yarn. I bought 12 skeins of discontinued sock yarn last summer, and am now finishing a sweater made from Moonlight Mohair that I bought there. As you say, all of the skeins were $1.50, which is a great price. At least for the stores in my area, I've noticed that the best time to check Big Lots is when yarn is specifically mentioned in their sale flyer. That seems to mean that they've just received a new, big shipment. I've never used Fun Fur, but if you go to the Lion Brand web site (www.lionbrand.com) they have lots of patterns, many of which are free, and you should be able to find some for Fun Fur. Happy knitting!

You can make cute simple scarves out of Fun Fur. I made this one to wear to ball games: http://flickr.com/photos/21105496@N00/3162206504/ |

I have made lots of scarves out of the fun fur, It is best using a simple pattern, and large needles , It is fairly easy to use once you get it started, however it is slippery so you sometimes have to brace your needle against your knee . I also knit several hats for kemo patients, as it is soft on their heads. it usually takes about 2 skeins to make a decent sized scarf. I picked up some chenille yarn at big lots, nice. |

Some of the Fun Fur knits in strips. I didnn't notice this until I bought the Mexican. Then I went thru my stash & found several other colors that are stripes. |

I use fun fur for scarfs. I crochet using 1-2 strands of fun fur, depending on how cheaply I bought it, and a strand of similar colored sport weight yarn. The scarfs are thick, soft and fluffy. I love them. |

Dollar tree also occasionally has yarns and they are only $1.00 a ball. Big Lots usually has a wider selection however. I use all these yarns to make scarves and chemo caps. |

Thanks for the insight to big lots. After reading this I stopped at our local Big Lots and found fun fur in a box. I dug through the box and came up with 6 skeins. What a find! Great price to. I also went to Dollar Tree and bought several skeins. I'm ready to make scarfs for next christmas. I love a great deal!! Thanks everyone!! |
