Part I: The Big6 Skills This section is organized by the six stages of the Big6 Skills. Each chapter begins with an explanation of that stage and is followed with practical tips, lessons, and articles for teaching and learning the Big6. Part I ends with Big6 for All, a chapter that shares and celebrates Big6 success stories! Part II: Big6 in Action: K-Higher Education Part II is divided into chapters according to grade level. Here you will find a wealth of ready-to-use ideas, strategies, lesson plans, and graphic organizers for classroom use. Further topics include working with students with diverse learning needs as well as using music and art as the context for Big6 teaching and learning. Part III: Big6 and Technology Technology is an integral part of every Big6 stage; it is not an add on or an enhancement. This part will explore new technologies of the 21st century and includes articles that discuss the relationship of technology and the Internet to the information problem-solving process. Authors relate the latest technology developments to the Big6 and share ideas about how technology can be used to enhance learning and teaching. Part IV: Teaching Information Problem Solving Part IV contains various "TIPS"?Teaching Information Problem Solving?all centered around the Big6 Skills. Highlights include suggestions on how to write a grant application, quick and easy Big6 reinforcements, and an explanation of how Big6 joined with NewsBank to create a curriculum resource focused around the Big6 Skills. Part V: Big6 and Content Standards in the Curriculum State and district learning standards have become an integral part of the educational landscape across the U.S. In Part V, we see how learning standards are directly related to the Big6 Skills and how they are incorporated into different curriculum areas.
