What can I say; have a kleenex nearby at the end.

Read this a long, long time ago. A very mystical tale. Had been made into a movie with Matthew Modine.

The story of a guy named Birdy and his buddy Al, and the very different pasions that fire their spirits. Al lifts weights and picks up girls, and can't escape his world because he has no place to go - while Birdy has discovered a way to fly free in a place of his own choosing.

I bought this book having read it before. I wanted a copy to own. The copy I received was rather ratty - had been used before the prior owner bought it and the cover was bent in various places.
A friend is reading this.
If you liked the movie, beware... the book is MUCH more intense. The "flying" scenes are amazing!
