The opening of the book gives us a little info about Rennie. Her part-time job as a journalist and a detective. She is constantly being somewhere at the wrong time. So having to stop by the police station to give a statement. The knowledge acquired can't be published until the criminal case is solved. Doc Hallacy's death had an impact on the residents of Morrisville, a small town. The investigation has alot of unexpected consequences. As usual Rennie's life is in jeopardy.
