A fine "noir" thriller from one of the masters. The story is a bit over the top but Woolrich's stories are usually about atmosphere rather than reality. Like Black Angel and Phantom Lady, The Black Curtain deals with a man trying to prove his innocence by prowling the dark city streets in search of clues about his past.

The book was made into a movie, Street of Chance, a radio program and even an Alfred Hitchcock Hour.
